Summary
1. Changes in 2015
From January 2015 this part of the exam is 30 minutes shorter and has around 20 questions fewer. The reading section and the use of English (grammar) sections have been merged.
2. Scoring
Parts 1, 2, 3 and 7 carry one mark each. Part 4 carries up to two marks. Parts 5 and 6 carry two marks each.
3. The order
In my opinion, the most efficient way to do this part of the exam is to do the tasks in the following order: 4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6, 7. Or alternatively: 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6, 7, 1. Starting with the sections that ask you to write and leaving the multiple choice until later, will help you make the most of your time. If you run out of time, at the end of the exam you could quickly choose some multiple choice answers, but you wouldn’t be able to write random words. Whatever order you choose, don’t leave parts 2 and 4 until the end.
4. Time management
1. Start with part 4. Do it quickly. You either know the answer or you don’t. Don’t waste time here. 2. Go to part 3. Spend a bit more time here because you can lose ‘easy’ points by being careless. It’s worth taking a minute to check your answers before you move on. 3. Part 2 has a lot of ‘you know it or you don’t’ kind of questions, so do it quickly. 4. Next is part 1. It’s also one with ‘I know this’ or ‘I have no idea’ type questions. This should be the fastest section of them all. 5. If you follow these tips and practice a few times, you should find that you have lots of time left to do sections 5, 6, and 7. That’s important because there’s a lot of text to read and you don’t want to feel time pressure when you’re trying to understand a long piece of writing.
5. Read the examples, but don’t do them
For parts 1 – 4 an example (0) is given so don’t waste time trying to find the answers.

Desde enero de 2015 esta parte del examen es 30 minutos más corta y contiene cerca de 20 preguntas menos. La sección de lectura y uso del inglés (gramática) se han fusionado.
2. Puntuación
Partes 1, 2, 3 y 7 conllevan un punto cada una. Parte 4 conlleva dos puntos. Partes 5 y 6 conllevan 2 puntos cada parte.
3. El orden
En mi opinión, la manera más eficiente de hacer esta parte del examen es hacer las tareas en el siguiente orden: 4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6, 7. O alternativamente: 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6, 7, 1. Deja para el final las secciones que te piden escribir una respuesta múltiple. Esto te ayudará a aprovechar al máximo tu tiempo. Si el tiempo se te agota, al final siempre podrás contestar rápidamente algunas de las preguntas de respuesta múltiple, pero lo que no podrás hacer es escribir palabras aleatoriamente. Sea cual sea el orden de tu elección, no dejes las partes 2 y 4 para el final.
4. Gestión del tiempo
1. Comienza con la parte 4. Hazla rápido. Sepas o no sepas la respuesta, no gastes tiempo aquí. 2. Ve a la parte 3. Gasta aquí un poco más de tiempo porque podrías perder puntos “fáciles” si eres descuidado. Vale la pena tomar un minuto para comprobar tus respuestas antes de continuar hacia delante. 3. La parte 2 tiene muchas preguntas del tipo: “o las sabes o no”, así que hazla rápidamente. 4. La siguiente es la parte 1. Es también de esas que o te las sabes o no tienes ni idea. Esta debería ser la sección más rápida de todas. 5. Si sigues estos consejos y practicas unas cuantas veces, te darás cuenta de que te queda mucho tiempo para hacer las secciones 5, 6 y 7. Esto es importante porque hay mucho texto que leer y no quieres sentir la presión del tiempo mientras tratas de comprender un texto largo.
5. Lee los ejemplos, pero no los hagas.
Para las partes 1-4 se te dará un ejemplo (0). No gastes tu tiempo intentando encontrar las respuestas.
