What is the cost of completing a Higher-Level Vocational Training Cycle (CFGS) in Spain?

The cost of Higher-Level Vocational Training (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior or CFGS) in Spain can vary significantly depending on whether you choose to study at a public or private center.

  • In Private Centers: The average cost of studying a CFGS in a private center is around 3,000 euros per academic year. However, depending on the specialty and the center, prices can be much higher, reaching up to 10,000 euros per year in some cases.
  • In Public Centers: If you opt for a public center, the cost is considerably reduced. In these cases, students only need to pay the registration fees, which generally do not exceed 300 euros for the entire academic year.

It’s important to note that these costs can vary depending on the autonomous community, the demand, and the prestige of the center, as well as possible financial aid or scholarships that may be available. Therefore, it is always recommended to consult directly with the educational center or the corresponding educational authority to obtain accurate and updated information on enrollment and tuition costs for CFGS.

What are the cutoff marks in Higher-Level Vocational Training?

Cut-off marks in Higher-Level Vocational Training (Formación Profesional de Grado Superior) act as a selection mechanism when the number of applicants exceeds the number of available spots for a particular training cycle in public centers. The educational administrations of the autonomous communities establish criteria based on students’ grades to organize the applications and allocate the spots.

Therefore, the cut-off mark is the grade of the last admitted applicant to a cycle, and it varies each year depending on factors such as the popularity of the training cycle, the number of applicants, and the spots offered at each educational center.

How do cutoff marks affect me if I want to access a Higher Vocational Training Cycle?

If you want to access a Higher Vocational Training Cycle in a public center and the cycle of your interest has more applications than available spots, your admission will depend on the cutoff mark. This means that you will need to have a grade equal to or higher than the cutoff mark to secure a place. It is important to note that this mark is variable: it changes each year and can differ between autonomous communities, specialties, and centers. Therefore, it is essential to be aware of the required grades and to prepare adequately if you are in a competitive selection process.

We have a cutoff mark calculator for vocational training cycles in the Valencian Community if you access it through the Access Test. Check it out here.

What are the Access Test exams like?

The access exams for Higher-level Vocational Training Cycles are designed to assess the abilities and knowledge of candidates who do not have the necessary academic qualifications for direct access. These exams vary in content and format depending on the autonomous community where they are carried out, conforming to local requirements and curricula. We explain what the exams are like in the Valencian Community here.
