Valencia is a friendly city where you can find activities for all ages and tastes. No matter what time of year you come, the weather is always good to visit Valencia. Also, our city will give you enough options to enjoy 100%. Here are some of the activities you can do throughout the year to discover your new city:

January

You can start the year enjoying the most typical Christmas sweets such as “casca” or “roscón” (sweet ring-shaped bread that is prepared with a sweet, yeasted dough and comes topped with sugar and candied or dried fruit). You can’t miss the parade of Reyes that runs through the centre or the different Christmas markets scattered around the city.

February

February is the month of Carnival and we obviously couldn’t miss it. In the neighbourhood of Russafa or Benimaclet the streets are filled with colour, music and a good atmosphere.

March

During the month of March the city changes, everything revolves around the best Valencian festival: the Fallas. From day 1 to day 19, let the music, the firecrackers and the vivid colours of silk be part of your life.

April

Spring arrives in the city and the smell of “panquemado” (bun normally eaten at Easter) from the ovens reminds us that it is already Easter. Don’t forget to visit the Cabanyal neighborhood, a place with charm and a lot of history, to get to know la Semana Santa Marinera (a cultural religious and popular festivity). In addition, fairs begin in the riverbed and in Viveros, where people gather to eat, drink and dance. There is something for all tastes and events take place throughout the year: the fair of April, the wine fair, the alternative fair, the book fair, etc.

May

May is a month to take advantage and make many outdoor plans. We propose you discover the city by bike and walk through all the gardens and parks that the city has to offer: the Nurseries, the Monfort Garden, the Botanical Garden (next to the Academy!), the Ayora Garden, the Capçalera Garden, the new parque central or even going out to the countryside (huerta)to reach Alboraia.

June

June can be a good month to discover the Corpus, one of the oldest festivals in Valencia (since 1355!). The Corpus is a religious and pagan procession famous for its old and traditional dances. Come to la Casa de les Roques and let them explain who are la Moma, Gigantes (Giants), Cabezudos and the characters of the Roques (traditional elements in the corpus processions). For a few days they will take to the streets to relive a party with medieval influence full of rites and dances.

July

In this month Valencia holds la Feria de Julio (July fair), also known as La Gran Feria de Valencia. This event hosts a variety of activities throughout the city: concerts in Viveros Gardens, the amusement fair in the riverbed, gastronomic tastings, street markets or the interesting batalla de las flores (Battle of the Flowers) on the Alameda promenade at the end of the month.

August

August is the month to go to the beach. Take a glass of horchata (popular drink made of chufa, a tiger nut) in one of the historic horchaterias of the centre (Santa Catalina, el Collado ) or from one the orchata stands Món Orxata) and then go to the beach. You can visit the beaches we have in the city like Arenas, Malvarrosa or Patacona beach. But, if you have a car take the opportunity to visit the beaches of el Saler or Devesa.

September

September is a good month for getaways. Not far from the city you have excursions from the sea to the mountain. The castle of Xàtiva, the vineyards of Requena and Utiel, the monastery of Puig, the silos of Burjassot, the ceramic museum of Manises or the portet of Catarroja and the rice fields of Albufera.

October

On the 9 th Octuber, we celebrate the year’s last great festival of Valencia, Sant Donis, our Valentine’s day. It is a good time to taste marzipan in the form of fruits and vegetables. Traditionally they were wrapped in a handkerchief and presented to one’s lover. Whether you’re in love or not, treat yourself!

November

Valencia is a city with a history to tell, so this month it is good for discovering it through the wide range of museums and monuments it offers. Climb the Torres de Serranos or the Micalet and see the city at your feet: the Llotja, the Mercat Central, the Generalitat palace, the Quart towers , the bell towers, the City of Arts and Sciences, etc.

December

Have you ever tried a good paella? Or perhaps do you prefer a traditional lunch? This time we propose you take a route through the markets of Valencia to discover the ancient cuisine of the Mediterranean, extensive and varied, full of rich contrasts that you will fall in love with. Shall we start with the Rojas Clemente market? It’s right next door.
