The communicative approach
We learn our first language because we need to communicate with the world around us. At La Llibreta, we bring that same need into the classroom, so you can learn Valencian in the most natural and authentic way possible.
What is the communicative approach?
Learn by using the language, not by memorising it.
Classes are taught entirely in Valencian. Our aim is for you to develop full communicative competence: to write different types of text, express yourself orally in different registers, understand what you read and follow what you hear. Grammar, phonology and vocabulary are integrated into the same process rather than studied separately.
01 Real-life everyday contexts
Our teachers create realistic situations suited to each level, bringing language immersion into the classroom and giving you a genuine need to use specific language rather than simply memorise it.
02 Practise until it becomes second nature
We introduce language so that you can use it, practise it and understand when it is appropriate — that way, it genuinely stays with you rather than only helping you through the exam.
03 Interactive classes
We work in pairs and groups, with activities that involve negotiation and collaboration, helping you develop accuracy and fluency naturally.
04 Small groups
We teach in small groups, with the teacher distributing and guiding the materials, so that everyone has genuine opportunities to interact and no one gets lost in the group.
05 Resources that reinforce your learning
We complement classes with audiovisual resources, music, external links and reading recommendations, so you can stay in contact with Valencian outside the classroom too.
We design our courses to help you pass your qualification exam
Our Valencian courses are carefully designed to help you succeed in your JQCV, EOI or CIEACOVA qualification exam. However, because these exams assess communicative competence, memorising rules is not enough: you need to be able to communicate confidently in real situations. That is why we focus on using the language in practice — it is the most effective way to prepare thoroughly for the exam and the kind of learning that stays with you afterwards.

We prepare students at every level for JQCV, EOI and CIEACOVA, with classes specifically designed around the format of each exam while still focusing on the real communication skills assessed in the test.
